?How many times have you heard that statement? The best results are always when anything is done in moderation. You gain body fat because you weren’t eating or drinking in moderation so in order to reverse that situation you also need to plan your weight loss programs so that eating or exercising that is involved with that program is also done in moderation.

Excessive exercising for somebody who hasn’t done much in the past can result in injury and that injury can make you less mobile and increase the opportunity to gain body fat.

Sudden changes in diet will send the body into reactionary mode storing fat. Gradual changes to your diet on the other hand done in moderation will not send signals to the body that is a starving and in fact you won’t feel as though you are starving either if you do it in moderation.

Making moderate changes to your food and exercise won’t infringe on your lifestyle anywhere near as much and that will in effect make it a lot easier for you to maintain the changes for a lot longer until they become second nature.

This is when you will get to the stage where you can gradually keep reducing the body fat and become healthier and healthier and more energetic as time goes on.

Even your intake or water has to be in moderation because drinking excessive water can flush out important nutrients from your system doing more harm than good.

You are better drinking a glass of water here and there throughout the day rather than trying to drink gallons of water in the hope that it will help you to lose weight faster.

Even good foods need to be eaten in moderation as excessive quantities of these foods can still cause the body to store them as fat.

It’s a simple rule to follow really; if you are eating drinking or exercising too much or too little you are unlikely to get optimum results.

?It is so make it easier to get by and to stick to a weight-loss program if you have the support of your friends and family.

You could be doing them a favor by getting them involved in your weight loss program particularly if living in the same household where everybody begins to eat better quality foods.

Those people who have the support of others around them when trying to lose weight have a huge advantage over anybody going it alone.

You can encourage one another to get out and exercise together and make a social occasion rather than something that you would prefer not to do.
Go walking in a park or swimming at the beach to exercise and when doing this with friends and family it can be a fun time.

If you are using resistance training as part of your weight loss program then it is good to have a training partner to help spur you on to better performances and also in the event of using heavy weights to be there for the safety as a spotting partner.

More often than not more than one person in the household will be overweight because eating habits tend to depend a lot on the foods that are purchased each week so getting everybody involved in the weight-loss program will generally see the purchase of better foods and all members of the home can have an overall change in attitude towards food for the whole household.

It can be extremely difficult for the person losing weight if there are people around them who appear to be eating all and sundry as they like with little concern for their own weight.

Many weight loss experts suggest that surrounding yourself with people who don’t have a weight problem and eat good wholesome meals all the times will actually help to encourage you to change your eating habits and fall more into line with what they regard as normal.

?There are many different reasons why people become overweight.

It is not as simple as saying that overweight people just eat too much because there can be any number of psychological reasons that make people want to eat more.

Emotional triggers such as stress, sadness, depression and so on can all make a person want to eat more food. This is due to the fact that there are certain chemicals in the brain that are linked to both mood and hunger.

Many people associate eating with various different emotions and for this reason they choose to eat more food to make themselves feel better, or happier, or more comforted.

If you feel that this is the reason for your weight problem then it is probably better to get those issues resolved first by seeing a specialist rather than trying to attack the food problem first.

For a lot of people it is habit to over eat and behavioral modification will be the key to weight loss success in these cases.

One of the easiest ways to change your eating behavior is to eliminate any temptations. This is best done at the supermarket by not actually buying foods that are going to cause you a problem.

By not having these low value foods in the house you won’t be tempted to eat them because they won’t be there and this will encourage you to eat better foods and in doing so change your behavior patterns.

This process is made considerably easier if all members of the household will help towards achieving the goal of better eating.

If you do the shopping then you will be able to determine what food is purchased and this will help to make your weight loss easier, and in doing so it will help the nutrition of all members of the household.

?You might be surprised to learn that simply slowing down the rate that you eat your food at can have a profound affect on your body weight.

The longer it takes you to eat your food, the less food you will need to eat to feel satisfied.
There are some simple techniques that can get you out of a bad habit of eating too fast and consequently eating too much.

Try to chew your food a little longer before you swallow it as this will help with the digestion of the food and the extra time that it takes you to chew will also help you to feel more satisfied without having to have such a large quantity.

Don’t load up your fork or spoon with more food until you have finished eating the food that is already in your mouth. One simple way of doing this is to actually put down your fork or spoon until you ready to pick up the next piece of food to eat.

It breaks the habit of over eating from eating too fast. If you look at the way that French people in particular eat as a whole, you should notice that not only do they have smaller portions of food but they take a lot longer to eat their food. They are doing two things that help them to stay slim. Eating smaller amounts and taking longer to eat those smaller amounts.

You will find that once you start eating a little slower you will actually get to enjoy the food a lot more. You will have more time to savor the tastes in the food.

It takes a little while after eating food for your body to register the fact that it has had enough and many people overeat when they eat too fast simply because they believe they are still hungry. You should never eat until you are full; rather eat until you feel comfortable that you have had enough.

?The biggest problem with most people gaining weight is due to the quantity of food they consume.

That sounds obvious but you need to understand that there is often a good reason why some people feel the need to consume larger quantities of food than others and in doing so become overweight.

It all relates to the types of foods that we eat and their nutritional value. If you eat foods that are low in nutritional value they will leave you wanting more because they haven’t delivered the nutrients required to supply you with the energy you need and they haven’t satisfied your appetite.

They have left you feeling hungry and it is human nature to eat more food until that hunger goes away.

If you were to eat the right foods your nutritional needs would be met and you wouldn’t feel hungry. If you didn’t feel hungry you wouldn’t continue to eat and that in turn would ensure that you didn’t gain excess weight.

You can understand now why fast foods are responsible for the high incidence of weight problems due to the simple fact that they aren’t delivering the essential nutrients that the body needs.

By making some simple changes to the foods that we eat and replacing those foods that are low in nutrition with more appropriate foods for healthy living it becomes a lot easier to maintain a good bodyweight without having the burden of hunger to contend with.

The problem with most diets is the fact that they are just too hard to maintain for any amount of time and this shouldn’t be the situation as hunger is not supposed to be a part of a balanced lifestyle.

Good food in good quantities will help you to maintain a healthy bodyweight and you will feel satisfied after your meals.

?Why You Need Water

One thing that is often recited over and over – in nutritional circles, anyway – is to not drink your calories! We all need to drink, however, and there is actually a drink that contains absolutely zero calories… as well as zero carbohydrates, protein, fiber, and fat. What’s so important about it, then? Whereas we can potentially survive weeks without consuming food (probably wouldn’t want to, though!), humans can only make it about three days maximum without water. And water, though seemingly not fancy, is a great drink for us to have.
Water controls many functions in the human body, including its role in regulating our temperature. It is important to ingest a regular supply water – whether drinking it, or contained in foods – due to the water that is lost from the body in urination, sweating, and breathing.

There’s actually stuff in there – and it also helps you get the stuff that isn’t!

Water also contains nutrients; interestingly, it acquires many of the nutrients it contains, such as calcium, magnesium, sodium, manganese, zinc, phosphate, fluoride, potassium, and chloride, as it moves through the earth and soil!
The ingestion of water also helps us to absorb and use many other nutrients that we ingest. The parts that make up our bodies, including organs and blood, consist mostly of water. The nutrients we intake move throughout our bodies in water. We also dispel toxic products from our body through water, by urinating and perspiring.

It is often suggested anecdotally that it is best not to drink a lot of water with any given meal. This way, it is said that the stomach acids are better able to digest and process the foods you eat – ironic, really, given water’s usual role in helping you to absorb nutrients.

Water can be found in many liquids, even though they are not strictly called “water” – beverages like coffee, milk, and of course tea are predominantly made up of water. Water with other things added will also consist predominantly of water, and be good for you. The jury is still out on the artificial sweeteners in certain products add to improve the flavor of water, but small amounts of fruit juice can be added for flavor and nutrition; just a little can go along way. Drinking your water plain, however, can be an exhilarating experience, the enjoyment of one of the earth’s simple gifts.
Many foods also contain water. Foods with a very high content of fats or oils, such as peanuts, almonds, olive oil, walnuts, and pecans, contain very little or no water (remember from your science courses, oil and water don’t mix!). Honey also contains very little water. Foods such as cucumber, watermelon (obviously, perhaps), and celery, however, are composed of more than 90% water!
So remember, don’t overlook water, no matter how plain it is – and there are no calories to drink anyway, so don’t worry!

?Do You Want To Eat 100% Raw But Can’t Get Started?

As more and more people are becoming concerned with their health, they are considering changing to a raw food living. There are so many benefits to living a life eating nothing but organic raw food but most people are not sure how to get started. If you are considering this type of life style then you will want to know what the benefits are so you know exactly what you are getting into.

One of the most substantial benefits you get from going 100% raw is the fact that your body will get so much more nutrients out of the food then if it were cooked or processed. You will also find that when you switch to raw food living your body will digest food more efficiently as the raw foods have just the right amount of enzymes to help your digestive track to its job.

You will find that you do not eat near as much because you are fuller faster and longer. This is due to the fact that you are getting so much more nutrients from the raw foods. Your body will be able to eat less and go longer without having to snack in between meals. Many people tend to overeat when they are on a regular diet because their bodies are deprived of vital nutrients as cooked or processed foods just don’t have enough in them to keep your body satisfied.

?Many of the weight loss programs that have come out over recent years have had a very low success rate due to the fact that they have focused on the wrong techniques of healthy weight loss.

It is not just about losing weight and that is what some people don’t seem to understand. It is about reducing the percentage of body fat and getting that to a more normal level.

Any diet that focuses purely on reducing weight without concern with the percentage of body fat and the nutritional needs of the body as a whole is setting itself up for disaster.

When you focus solely on reducing body weight you are also reducing, in many instances, the percentage of muscle in the body and that is one of the major components that helps to reduce body fat.

Muscle burns fat and the more muscle that you can retain the more fat you are going to burn so while a diet might for a short time help you to lose body weight if it is reducing muscle at the same time then the long-term effects will be that it will be become more and more difficult to reduce the percentage of fat.

The other problem with many of these fast diets and weight-loss programs is the fact that they reduce body weight so fast initially that the body’s defensive mechanisms are thrown into action.

The body will then begin to try to conserve as much body fat as possible to stop it from starving. You cannot effectively lose large amounts of body weight in a short amount of time and hope to keep it off unless the body believes it is getting all the nutrition it needs.

These ultra fast weight loss programs cause people to lose and then gain weight rapidly making it all the more difficult to lose weight the next time they try.

?Quite often one of the best ways for most people to get started on a weight-loss program is to simply change the routine that they are accustomed to.

We get into the same habits of eating the same foods and doing the same things every day and the change alone can stimulate the body into action.

There is no better way to break a habit than to do something completely different and if you do it for long enough that will become the norm and changes in your lifestyle can be made within the course of a month if you habitually do the same thing every day – just make sure that that things that you do every day are making positive steps to achieving a better quality of health and lower body fat.

Most people who are overweight have some habit or habits that have resulted in their condition because it takes the constant over abuse of food and alcohol to get in such a state unless there are some other specific health-related problems.

If you make a concerted effort to change many of your normal routines you might find that these habits present themselves and you can begin to understand why you started putting on weight in the first place. If you know the reason for your condition that makes it a lot easier to reverse that state and get to where you want to be.

No matter how many weight loss programs you attempt to go on they will always be a struggle if you can’t resolve the underlying issues and the habits that have caused you to neglect your health to such an extent that you don’t feel happy about your body.

Quite often the foods that we believe we can’t do without are only needed due to the habit of always having had them. If you were brought up in a different household where your diet was different then those would be the foods that you would want to eat even if the diet was completely different from the one you currently enjoy.

?You would have heard this many times that most diets don’t work and the fact is that this is true.

Many people will start on a diet but the percentage that will succeed and achieve the weight loss that they desire will only be small compared to those who fail.

And when they fail many people will try again or change to another diet in the hope that the next diet will work.

One of the problems that face people who are on a diet is the fact that they are constantly thinking about food. It is on their mind all the time because they are on a diet.

They talk about it to others, they tell everyone they are on a diet and food becomes the main focus of their thoughts throughout the day.

Does this sound like you?

When you start a diet the first thing you have to start dealing with in most cases is hunger and that is something that is too hard for most people to endure and for this reason most diets fail.

No one wants to starve and it is only human nature to do everything we can to ensure we get sufficient food so that we won’t starve.

If you are trying to maintain a diet that constantly leaves you feeling hungry all the time then you are most likely destined to failure. It’s just too difficult and life wasn’t meant to be that hard.

The outcome for most people after having to endure this period of hardship is to get back onto the ‘eating too much’ bandwagon and pile the weight back on that has been lost on the diet, albeit at a far faster rate.

So that weight that you might have struggled to lose over a period of months will go back on in weeks leaving you feeling more disappointed than you would have been had you never dieted in the first place.
